polymer definition–: I need help coming up with humorous definitions for these words. (Beware: There are a lot of them)
I want these to be humorous definitions, but I am not creative enough to think of them. (Though I did for a few), like the definition for “Polymer” can be “many mers”. Please give a definition for some or all or as many as you like, please. Here are the words I need help with:

Acid Rain, Adaptation, Anaerobic, Antibiotic Resistance, Aquifer, Biome, Carbon Cycle, Carcinogen, Carnivore, Chemical Weathering, Chloroflourocarbons, Cladogram, Climate, Commensalism, Community of Organisms, Competition between Organisms, Consumer, Diversity of Organisms, Dominant Allele, Drainage Basin, Ecology, Ecosystem, El Niño, Environment, Erosion, Evolution, Global Warming, Greenhouse Effect, Habitat, Herbivore, Heterozygous, Homozygous, Insulation, Karyotype, Keystone Species, Mechanical Weathering, Meteorology, Mutagen Mutation, Mutualism, Natural Selection, Niche, Nitrogen Cycle, Nonrenewable Resource, Oceanography, Omnivore, Phenotype, Phytoplankton, Primary Succession, Producer, Recessive, Renewable Resource, Secondary Succession, Species, Symbiosis, Vector, Water Cycle Weather.

The answer in the following: (Hint: For answers, no site audit.)

Answer by LJ K
Acid rain: Lucy, crying over diamonds, again.
Adaptation: Needed to deal with other words ending with ‘-ation.’
Anaerobic: Gonna’ get short-circuited.
Antibiotic Resistance: Sickening.
Aquifer: How dry I am.
Carcinogen: There was a mountain visible there yesterday…
Carnivore: No preying allowed.
Chemical weathering: Rusty is not trusty.
Climate: Did you leave home without it?
Community of Organisms: Choir loft competition.
Competition between Organisms: Choir loft competition.
Consumer: Broke.
Diversity of Organisms: Notes flying through the air.
Drainage Basin: Location for what the other guy said.
Ecology: Forgot all those lousy Latin conjugations, finally.

…and that’s all from this corner of the …wherever…

polymer definition–: Definition of catalyst cracking?- Chemistry?
So, I can admit I’m terrible at Chemistry.

SO- quick homework help please.

We have to write a summary to describe how cracking works and why it is useful, and use these key words: alkane alkene catalyst heat polymer petrol

Don’t be surprised if this is terrible: Cracking is where you heat an alkane in the presence of a catalyst in order to make more useful alkenes and polymers.

If this is terrible, please correct me. And where would I fit the word ‘petrol’ in?

THANK YOU!

The following is the answer: (Hint: The answer is not necessarily.)

Answer by Colin
I’m afraid your version is too brief and doesn’t explain clearly. How about…

Cracking is the name given to breaking up large hydrocarbon molecules into smaller and more useful bits. This is achieved by using high pressures and temperatures without a catalyst, or lower temperatures and pressures in the presence of a catalyst.

In crude oil, many long chain molecules are obtained after distillation, a process where the crude oil is heated and distilled. However short chain molecules, like the molecules in petrol, are more useful. Unfortunately, simple distillation doesn’t give enough petrol for the huge demand today. So long chain saturated alkanes are split to smaller molecules by cracking. In the process an unsaturated alkene is formed. Unsaturated alkenes like ethylene and butadiene are useful for making polymers like polythene and ABS.

It usually contains no clay minerals, and is only called “clay” because its texture and working properties resemble those of mineral clay. It is sold in craft, hobby, and art stores, and is used by artists, hobbyists, and children. ♥To make it hard it must be baked in an oven. The time and temperature varies slightly from each brand. ♥Yes I bake the clay before painting it, wire wrap and put everything together. Monday videos are now polymer clay videos.
